Join us for an evening of art, performance, and community.

Betty La Poderosa is a reader’s theatre presentation directed by Jesús Castro González of Teatro Latino, with original music by Isabella Knott.

This dramatic reading honors the life and legacy of community leader Betty Aragón, a woman of resilience, power, and voice. Through the performance, we uplift her story and ongoing impact.

The program is presented in conjunction with We Were Never Meant to Disappear, the solo exhibition by artist Liz Ortiz. Liz will lead a guided gallery walkthrough, sharing her journey as an artist and the stories behind selected pieces across printmaking, drawing, painting, and analog photography. Themes include cultural invisibility, memory, and Indigenous Latina identity.

All are welcome. Interpretation available in English and Spanish.

About the Exhibition

We Were Never Meant to Disappear
A deeply personal 21-year retrospective by Liz Ortiz, founder of Mad Hare Press, featuring previously unseen works rooted in resilience, memory, and the reclamation of space as an Indigenous Latina artist in Northern Colorado.


About the Artist

Liz Ortiz is a multidisciplinary artist, printmaker, and cultural strategist based in Fort Collins, Colorado, and the founder of Mad Hare Press, a mobile micro-studio and community arts initiative centered on accessibility, education, and ancestral connection through printmaking. Her practice weaves personal narrative, archival memory, and traditional techniques across lino block and intaglio printmaking, drawing, painting, and analog photography.

Betty La Poderosa es una presentación de teatro leído dirigida por Jesús Castro González de Teatro Latino, con música original de Isabella Knott. Esta lectura honra la vida y el legado de la líder comunitaria Betty Aragón, una mujer de resiliencia, poder y voz. Con esta puesta en escena elevamos su historia y su impacto continuo.

El programa se presenta junto con la exposición individual We Were Never Meant to Disappear de la artista y escritora Liz Ortiz. Liz guiará un recorrido por la galería, compartiendo su proceso como artista y las historias detrás de piezas seleccionadas en grabado, dibujo, pintura y fotografía análoga.
